    The lanterns of Trebisonda lit at dusk. The gardens, the cloth drying in the sun, a place that welcomes you in.

    Tuberose, tulip and green notes open like flowers at nightfall. Muguet, ylang ylang and jasmine fill the heart, before musk, sandalwood and vetiver hold it steady. Two sprays and the air is ready.

    Trebisonda is today's Trabzon, on the Black Sea — a port of the Milione on the long way home, where the routes from the East met the sea.
