    A waterfall glittering in the sun above Quinsài, an orchard down in the valley, the wind carrying the scent of mandarins to the skin.

    Bergamot, lemon and mandarin open clean and radiant. Orange blossom, petitgrain and jasmine warm the heart, before musk, tonka bean and myrrh settle in.

    Quinsài is today's Hangzhou — the city Marco Polo called "the city of heaven," laced with canals and a thousand stone bridges, the China he loved most.
